Free Writing

Free writing is a process where thoughts are put down on paper without any judgement of the quality or style of writing. The main advantage of this technique is that is frees up the internal thought process, since writing without feeling self-conscious about what is being written, encourages free thinking. Try the following:
  1. Choose a comfortable place for writing.
  2. Remove all distractions.
  3. Set a timer for 20 mins.
  4. Start writing.
  5. Read over the thoughts filtering out the ideas.
  6. Highlight the ideas.
  7. Form a thesis statement.
